Pixel Reborn is the creative outlet of Liem Nguyen. It is a compilation of my personal works as well as my collaborations with industry colleagues and friends. My journey in computer graphics and animation began over a decade ago, during the winter of 1997…

Searching for an escape from my dreaded afternoon history classes, I met a group of like-minded individuals named Chris, Ken and Conrad. For the rest of the year, I would sneak out and join my friends in a cramped one bedroom apartment that they rented across the street from my high school. It was there that my fascination with computer graphics and visual effects began. But sadly as a result, I now know very little about how Canada’s colonial empires clashed on the landscape of the North American wilderness.

Still managing to somehow graduate with highest honors in the International Baccalaureate program of Fine Arts, I then moved to the sunny escarpments of St. Catherine’s, Ontario to attend Brock University. There, I studied Film, Fine Arts and Art History. Coincidentally, while I was in school, Chris, Ken and Conrad would go on to form one of Canada’s largest and most successful visual effects companies to date – Frantic Films.

The world-renowned animation program at Sheridan College, Oakville, was my next destination. For the following four years, I absorbed everything to do with classical Disney, Warner Bros and National Film Board animation to name a few. Upon graduating, I was awarded with a Cuppa Coffee Studios internship. Although I enjoyed it, my stint as a stop-motion animator was short lived due to my dependence on an ‘undo’ button.

Since my journey began, I have had the privilege of working with studios from around the world. I've contributed to a variety of commercial projects including movie visual effects, architectural previsualizations, video game development, animated children’s series, television commercials and broadcast identities. Some of my personal achievements include winning Teletoon’s ‘Most Promising Student’ National Scholarship Award and having my student film screened at the 1998 Ottawa Animation Festival.

I am currently working as a 3D Supervisor at E.H. Price, Canada's leading HVAC manufacturing company. I oversee a team of talented artists and tackle a variety of projects that include 3D architectural previsualizations, interactive training videos, flash animations, website design, marketing and branding. At the moment, I am also involved in building a marketing and software company, Anvil Digital. Stay tuned to find out more!

It is my hope that Pixel Reborn provides a place for sharing artwork, inspiring fellow artists and offering a launchpad for future collaborations.

Thanks
